Image Tsunami – Erik Kessels

We live in the midst of a photographic renaissance, in which we have grown accustomed to consuming images with the same voracity and pleasure with which we devour junk food. To cope with the flood of images that inundate our retinas day after day, we consume them without properly digesting them or simply swallow them whole. Rarely do we pause to look more closely, to read, appreciate, or question an image.

Image Tsunami offers a panoramic view of the vast collection of photographs that Erik Kessels lives with and works on by editing and recombining them. It represents the torrent of images inside his head (which continues to grow relentlessly). This book will inspire others to create their own combinations of images and, perhaps, also to pause along the way to appreciate some of them.
